AGM 2010

At our Annual General Meeting, which was held on Thursday, September 30th 2010, Fergus Finlay, CEO Barnardos Ireland delivered a very interesting and thought provoking key note address. We thank Mr Finlay for speaking to the AGM and wish him well with his future endeavours. Dr Anna Ridgway, presented Mr Finlay with copies of An Leanbh Og, a book on the history of UCC and a donation on behalf of OMEP Ireland, towards the work of Barnardos Ireland. Dr Anna Ridgway’s term of office as President came to an end at the AGM. Anna thanked the OMEP Committee for their work over the years and wished them well for the future. Dr Mary Hogan, Patron of OMEP Ireland, thanked Anna for her contribution to the work of OMEP Ireland. To see pictures click here. Dr Maura Cunneen was elected as the new President of OMEP Ireland.

 

Dr Denice Cunningham and Patricia Radley attended the World Meeting and Conference in Gothenburg in August. Please click here for a short reflection on their time there.

 

Ms Pat O’Connor has analysed the information from the Education for Sustainable Development project which OMEP Ireland undertook as part of the OMEP World project. OMEP Ireland produces a quarterly newsletter, edited by Lorraine Crossan and Anna Ridgway which will be available online from now on. If you would like to contribute a short article, or an activity for young children  we would love to hear from you.

 

Other sections of the Newsletter which we hope to develop include, details of OMEP events worldwide, Health & Safety tips in the early years setting, developing your curriculum, marketing your service and professional practice issues in the early years setting. Contributions are welcome on these or any area of interest. The final decision on publication will be made by the Editors.
